Huai'an 2025
THE MEDALS

The medal design for the UJR World Championship 2025 aspires to be a masterpiece that embodies profound cultural heritage, reflects the vibrancy of the event, and highlights the unique charm of Huaian, the host city. Centered on the theme of “elite athletes from around the world gathering in Huai’an to celebrate this grand occasion,” the design skillfully integrates elements of world intangible cultural heritage, cultural symbols of the Huaian region, and the spirit of international sports. It captures the harmonious coexistence of tradition and modernity, as well as local and global influences.
FRONT DESIGN
UJR World Championship 2025 medals are made using the Chinese intangible cultural heritage craft of Longquan Celadon, featuring the time-honored plum green glaze. The front of the medals integrates traditional techniques such as incised and raised carving, resulting in clear layers and a strong sense of space.
Huaian is the hometown of Wu Cheng’en, the author of “Journey to the West” . The image of Sun Wukong is artistically inspired by the beloved portrayal from the classic Chinese animation “Havoc in Heaven” (1980s version). The spiritual essence embodied by Sun Wukong-bravery, fearlessness, the courage to challenge limits, agility, and the pursuit of freedom-aligns perfectly with the sportsmanship required for rope skipping: explosive power, coordination, rhythm, and an unwavering drive to surpass one’s limits. This makes it a fitting representation of the event’s vitality and fighting spirit.
As a significant landmark of the World Cultural Heritage (the Grand Canal of China) in Huai’an, Qingjiangpu Tower is thoughtfully integrated into the design. It symbolizes Huai’an’s rich history as the “Capital of the Canal,” its profound cultural heritage, and its open and inclusive urban character, serving as the central cultural identifier for the event held in Huai’an.
BACK DESIGN
The back of the medal features a specially crafted copper plate, enhancing both its durability and layered texture.
The copper plate is meticulously engraved with markers for gold, silver, and bronze grades, along with the specific names of the competition events. This design ensures the accuracy and readability of the medal information while intuitively distinguishing award levels through the use of different metal materials (or plating layers), making each medal a lasting testament to the athlete’s unique honor.
